“Dubois Shook Me To My Core When He Hit Me” Anthony Joshua Sent Serious Warning By Top Heavyweight

An all-action, all-British world heavyweight title fight is now just around the corner.

In September, two of the form men in the division will come together to battle it out for the IBF world title at Wembley Stadium.

In one corner is the experienced former two-time champion Anthony Joshua who has knocked out his last three opponents. In the other corner is the younger man Daniel Dubois. He is the current belt holder and is coming off the back of two of the best wins of his career, both of which were stoppages over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic.

Speaking to Seconds Out, rising heavyweight star Johnny Fisher was asked what will happen when Joshua and Dubois meet and picked the power of ‘AJ’, but warned him that Dubois has the power to ‘shake you to your absolute core;.

“Definitely Anthony Joshua, but not the margin that people would suspect. I reckon it’s like a 55/60-45/40 split in favour of Anthony Joshua. Dubois can seriously whack. I’ve sparred him loads. His right hands can shake you to your absolute core. I remember I got hit by one it was like an electric shock going to your body. Then again I’ve not spared Anthony Joshua and I know how hard he can hit from who he’s knocked out and what he has done to people.”

Fisher, who fights next against Andriy Rudenko on September 28, then spoke of Dubois’ best assets and the confidence he will have from his recent victories.

“The jab of Dubois as well is like a right hand. I know I ain’t spared Joshua but Dubois is no joke going off great wins like Miller and Hrgovic. Hrgovic has been the bogey man for the last two, three years so it’s not going to be an easy night for Joshua but the amount of right hands Hrgovic hit Dubois with, if Joshua lands these it’s going to be night-night.”

Whoever comes out on top will be hoping to get a shot at the undisputed title against whoever wins the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury in December.

“Hands Down” Wladimir Klitschko Had No Doubt Who Would Win Fury-Joshua After Facing Both: “Hands Down”

Anthony Joshua versus Tyson Fury is still one of the biggest fights that can be made in world boxing.

Both British heavyweights have long been huge draws, and both are former world champions with a chance at redemption later in the year.

First comes Joshua’s sure-to-be explosive match-up with Daniel Dubois, the current IBF belt holder and a man in form having stopped his last two opponents, Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic.

After their contest in September, all eyes will be on the rematch between Fury and Oleksandr Usyk in which ‘The Gypsy King’ attempts to avenge his one and only loss in the ring. If he does come out on top, he will win three of the four major world titles from the Ukrainian. Should Joshua do the same, all roads will lead to a huge undisputed fight sometime in 2025.

One man who has fought both is former long-reining champion Wladimir Klitschko. He lost to Fury on points in 2015 in a big upset, then got stopped in the later rounds against Joshua in 2016 in a thrilling back and forth encounter.

When asked after his defeat to ‘AJ’ who would win should the two come together, he went with Joshua, ‘hands down’.

“Hands down Joshua.

He is getting to be the complete fighter. Technically, size-wise, weight-wise, power-wise. And he is a good learner.

The other guy [Fury], like a fart in the wind it is there and it is gone. In the history of boxing there are a lot of examples of this kind of guy. They can be successful for a time but are not disciplined enough to continue to be successful. I wish Tyson well but I think there is a lack of discipline there, and discipline is more important than motivation.

Anthony joshua

Drawing from my experience I would say it is going to be very difficult for Tyson because there’s that lack of discipline.

Of course lots has changed since that prediction. Joshua has gone on to lose three times, once to Andy Ruiz Jr and twice to Usyk. Fury on the other hand regained his heavyweight title status after an epic trilogy against Deontay Wilder but like ‘AJ’ also lost out to Klitschko’s fellow countryman.

Will Be Easier To Beat, Oleksandr Usyk Has No Doubt Whether Tyson Fury Will Be Easier Or Harder To Beat In Rematch

Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury are set to renew their rivalry in Saudi Arabia in December of this year.

These two modern heavyweight greats put on a superb fight back in May to contest the first undisputed title in almost 25 years.

It was the former Olympic gold medalist and undisputed cruiserweight champion Usyk who came out on top after a close fight that was won off the back of one big ninth round for the Ukrainian.

Despite being the naturally smaller man – which is something he was teased for by Fury for many years – Usyk managed to land a power shot that had Fury momentarily in trouble and taking a 10 count.

That led to some rather confused corner work in Fury’s team with mixed instructions being given on how to see the fight out. Despite that, Fury has said he will keep the same team for the rematch.

Ahead of that, Usyk has been speaking to Mail Sport Boxing about whether or not he thinks the second fight will be harder than the first having already admitted that the first fight with Fury was the hardest of his career.

“No, it won’t be easier.

RELATED :“I Fear For Him” Anthony Joshua Makes ‘Worrying’ Mike Tyson-…

I think it will be even more difficult. Look, I always set myself up for a hard night, never an easy one. I’m expecting the cosmos that will crush me so only my eyes will see what happening. I get pumped for such things. I don’t think that it will be easier for me, but I don’t need it to be easier. Diamonds cannot be found in easy, because they are not there. You cannot succeed without hard work, everything that is given easily does not grow.”

Anthony joshua

Fury too has promised he will be better than the first time around which makes this rematch one of the most intriguing fights of the year.

‘He’s strong but we were close’ – Daniel Dubois’ sparring partner shares surprising prediction for Anthony Joshua fight

Daniel Dubois’ sparring partner has backed against him in his fight with Anthony Joshua.

Dubois was crowned IBF heavyweight world champion after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt, and he will make a first defence of it against Joshua on September 21 at Wembley Stadium.

Anthony Joshua is considered the marginal favourite given his experience and recent form under the stewardship of new coach Ben Davison.

And Guido Vianello, who has sparred Dubois in the past, surprisingly believes Joshua will win having shared some ‘close’ rounds with the 26-year-old.

He told Boxing Social: “I sparred with Daniel in the training camp before my Efe Ajagba fight [back in April], he is a very strong and dangerous boxer, but we were very close in every session.

“So, I was very happy to spar with him, he is very dangerous. But Joshua is back and he is back in the best shape [of his career] I think.

“I know Francis Ngannou too and we are good friends, Ngannou is very dangerous in the ring. We could see this when he fought Tyson Fury, we saw a tough Francis Ngannou.

“Then, with Joshua, everything was better for him [Joshua]. He was fought 12 rounds many times, Joshua knows what to do in the ring and versus Francis, Joshua was perfect.

“I saw Joshua then and I said that he looks very different, he looks much better than in the past. With Dubois it is a very close fight and I think that Joshua, with his experience, maybe he can win.”

Dubois has made a remarkable charge to the title given he was handed a brutal beating by Joe Joyce in his first career defeat in 2020.

Questions were raised as to whether he will be able to withstand Joshua’s power, after he was hit regularly by the Croatian in a real barnstormer.

But ‘DDD’ insists he will pose significant problems to the leading heavyweight given his power.

He said:  “I won’t take them shots. Hrgovic is completely different to AJ, the way that he throws his shots is smooth, he is light and he is quick, he doesn’t load up or anything.

“It took me a while to get the hang of it but I found a way to deal with it.

“If you look at the fight properly, I was slipping, just subtly sometimes, doing what I had to do to win.

“That is what I am going to have to do again, break Joshua up, break down what is in front of me and get the victory by any means necessary.

Anthony joshua

“Could he [Joshua] take them shots that Hrgovic was throwing? Everyone has got an opinion. Let them get on with it.

“Now it is time to do the work and see what they [the naysayers] say after this one. I will win by any means necessary, but a stoppage is definitely what I am after.

“Good stoppage and a statement victory, that’s what I’m all about.”

The winner of the event sees a potential undisputed showdown with the victor in Oleksandr Usyk’s rematch with Tyson Fury which is set to take place on December 21.

‘I floored Daniel Dubois and nearly wrecked his career – Anthony Joshua was right about him’

Kevin Lerena has spoken out about Daniel Dubois’ no-quitter attitude after he knocked the Brit down three times during their fight, before being knocked out himself

Kevin Lerena admits Anthony Joshua was right about his opponent Daniel Dubois’ refusal to give up during a fight.

Dubois and Joshua are set to face off in the ring next month, and Lerena is of the opinion that this fight will be “very 50/50” between the pair. Speaking on the Seconds Out podcast, the South African boxer admitted that Dubois has a grit in him that could turn the fight on its head at any time.

Lerena and Dubois fought in late 2022 and the South African had his opponent knocked down in the ring three times – but the now-26-year-old got back up every time, eventually knocking Lerena down and winning the bout.

Back in 2020, Dubois was dealing with being called a ‘quitter’ after he chose to take a voluntary knee against Joe Joyce in their fight, as the now-38-year-old fractured his eye socket and caused nerve damage. The British boxer was forced to retire in the 10th round of the fight as his eye had swollen up so much that he couldn’t see out of it – and Joshua stepped up to defend his fellow countryman from the jeers coming his way.

Speaking to The Sun, Joshua said: “If Daniel needs someone to speak to, he should call me. It is easy for people to criticise from outside the ring – but some people have been out of order. Daniel took a massive risk in taking that fight, as did Joe Joyce. They both knew the dangers and they both put it all on the line.

“I hear people talking respectfully about tapping out in MMA fights. Then when a boxer stops because his eyeball is about to fall out, they call him a ‘quitter’ – are they serious?

“Daniel’s time will come. I believe I will fight both him and Joyce. Joyce is underrated. He had a top amateur pedigree and it shows. This is a great time for British heavyweight boxing – it has never been stronger – and those two guys are both a huge part of it.”

martin bakole

Lerena was also in agreement with Joshua’s words, as he admitted that Dubois was more than within his rights to keep himself safe. He said: “When you look back at his fight with Joe Joyce, I don’t think you can call that quitting. I think he had a very serious injury, you know, the man’s got to realise we’re in there to make a living and to get back to our families, and if he felt the injury was limiting his performance then he did what he needed to do.

“At the end of the day, I say look where Joyce is now and look where Dubois is. Dubois has surpassed what Joyce has achieved and he’s gone on to do a lot more. He’s in mega fights so it just shows you to never give up. I don’t think he’s a quitter to be honest.”

Discussing Dubois’ chances with Joshua, the 32-year-old said: “Since he beat me, he’s lost to Usyk. He’s overcome adversity – in the fight with me he had to overcome adversity getting off the canvas and rallying back to beat me.

“He overcame adversity there, he fought Usyk in a fight that many thought he beat him with a body shot. Whether it was a body shot or not, who knows, but he overcame adversity again because he got stopped in that fight. He then came back, he beat Jarrell Miller, he smashed Jarrell Miller and he smashed Hrgović.

Andy ruiz jr

“And to be honest, I thought when he fought Hrgović, I genuinely thought Daniel Dubois will beat him, but I didn’t think [he would beat him] like that. He showed a lot of grit and he’s come into himself.”

Dubois and Joshua will enter the ring on Saturday, September 21 at Wembley Stadium to fight for the IBF world heavyweight title – a prize that Joshua is eager to claim back after he lost his heavyweight accolades to Oleksandr Usyk.

He hits harder” Daniel Dubois Never Relent Because I spent years sparring Anthony Joshua, but Daniel Dubois hits harder

The debate over who hits harder out of Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois rages on.

Ever since it was announced that the heavyweight titans would be squaring off this September, boxing forums have been packed to the brim with theories about which of the Brits carries more concussive power.

Heavyweight contender Frazer Clarke, a former sparring partner of both men, joined talkSPORT’s talkBOXING podcast this week and weighed in on the discussion.

Clarke sparred Joshua for several years during his time with Team GB Boxing in Sheffield when both men were under the tutelage of Robert McCracken.

Meanwhile, he has also duked it out with Dubois, who spent a brief stint with the podium squad before turning over as a professional.

Asked if Dubois hits harder, Clarke said: “On a single shot possibly but I’d say Anthony puts them together better with his boxing style.”

The debate will be settled once and for all when Joshua and Dubois exchange leather on September 21 at Wembley Stadium.

Both men are set to square off for the IBF heavyweight title after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the red and gold strap in order to pursue a second fight with Tyson Fury on December 21.

As a result, Dubois was upgraded from ‘interim’ to full world champion and will make his first defence of the belt against AJ.

Anthony joshua

Several members of the boxing fraternity insisted Joshua had lost the fire in his belly after getting knocked out by Andy Ruiz in 2019, and then suffering consecutive losses to Usyk in 2021 and 2022.

But devastating stoppage victories over Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou in his most recent outings has led many to believe the Brit still has his ruthless streak intact, although Simon Jordan insists that Dubois’ power could give Joshua ‘PTSD’.

“I think it’s a fascinating fight,” said the talkSPORT pundit last month.

“I don’t go with the camp that suggests that Anthony Joshua is fully rehabilitated, because ultimately he’s fought fighters that haven’t really hit him back at this moment in time.

“Jermaine Franklin had a little go, but ultimately [Robert] Helenius got knocked out without landing a glove on him.

“Wallin was nowhere near him, and with Ngannou Joshua did what should have been done to him by Tyson Fury.

“So I think that if Daniel detonates on him he’ll get PTSD because he’ll take him back to a space where the question is that Anthony Joshua hasn’t wanted to go – deep in the trenches.

“There’s a distinct possibility that Daniel Dubois is going to drag him in there, and if he does, it’s going to be a fascinating fight, because he’s got the power.

Oleksandr Usyk Finally Names Which Fight Was Tougher Between Anthony Joshua And Tyson Fury

Right now, no one can argue that Oleksandr Usyk isn’t the best heavyweight on the planet.

The Ukrainian southpaw has beaten every man he has faced in the banner division, including challenger Daniel Dubois, two-time world champion Anthony Joshua and the former Lineal and WBC king Tyson Fury, who was unbeaten until he stepped into the ring with Usyk.

That was back in May for the historic undisputed championship and the first ever heavyweight contest for all four major belts.

It saw Usyk come out on top despite being the naturally smaller man who just a few years before was also cleaning up at cruiserweight and becoming undisputed in that division.

He and Fury will once again share the ring in December for their contracted rematch, though only the Ring Magazine, Lineal, WBA, WBO and WBC titles will be on the line after the champion was forced to vacate the IBF for not fulfilling his mandatory duties.

Speaking to Mail Sport, Usyk was asked how the fight with Fury compared to all his others, including two battles against Joshua, and he had no doubt that it tops them all.

“First place [the hardest fight]. First in rating for difficulty, passion, emotion, first in everything.”

Anthony joshua

He was then asked how he felt about his mother telling him to retire after the fight.

“My mom tells me that after every fight, she is worried, this is a mum, she is worried, she cries, she is afraid, however there is a way to go. I love her incredibly, this is the closest person to me, I know how much suffering she went through when I was sick or had some problems, how she did not sleep, however I have a mission to complete, I cannot just leave it.”

Should Usyk defend the belts against Fury, he has said there is only one other heavyweight he would be willing to face,

It was folks,Tyson Fury will knock out Oleksandr Usyk in rematch after ‘playing’ in first fight, says Martin Bakole

Heavyweight contender Martin Bakole, No 1 in the WBA’s rankings, is aiming to set up a shot at the winner of the Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury rematch with a victory over American star Jared Anderson in Los Angeles on Saturday night; He warns that Anderson “will give up” in their fight

Martin Bakole, the No 1-ranked heavyweight contender with the WBA, wants to defeat Jared Anderson to set up a shot at the winner of the Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk rematch.

He believes the victor of that fight will be Fury.

Ahead of return against Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller, Andy Ruiz Jr opens up on Anthony Joshua, faith… and ‘flushing bad vibes down the toilet’

The time has come for Andy Ruiz Jr to handle another big baby. He’s had enough practice over recent weeks. Leah Maya Ruiz was born on July 2. The following day, her father was in the ring, sparring ahead of Saturday night’s return against Jarrell Miller.

‘It’s funny, I picked the name literally when they were going to give us the birth certificate,’ the heavyweight explains. His girlfriend Mayeli had decided what she wanted to call their first daughter. Unfortunately, Ruiz wasn’t convinced.

‘It was going to be Landy,’ he reveals. ‘I felt like… babe, she’s going be mad at me! She’s going to think: “Dad, were you trying to name me (after) your name or what?”’

Thankfully they had a list of alternates and Leah Maya eventually won out. ‘I thought it was just a beautiful name,’ Ruiz says. ‘It just gives me joy again, man… she was 9lbs, 5oz. She was a big baby.’

Perfect preparation, then, for Miller who goes by ‘Big Baby’ but weighed in 296lbs more than young Leah.

For Ruiz, the last few weeks have been about juggling his duties as a father and a fighter. ‘We came back to my house, we celebrated 4th of July together.’ And then boxing took over once more.

‘I can’t lose focus just because my daughter is here,’ the heavyweight says. ‘That should make me more motivated and hungry to win this fight.’ So should the opportunities that linger around the corner. Even at 34.

Incredibly, five years have now passed since Miller failed a drugs test – not for the final time – and Ruiz was drafted in to make Anthony Joshua look good on his American debut.

Instead, over seven bonkers rounds, Ruiz bounced AJ around Madison Square Garden to secure one of boxing’s greatest ever upsets.

Andy ruiz jr

All of a sudden, this ‘chubby boy’ with quick hands was the unified heavyweight champion. All of a sudden, the Mexican-American stood on the cusp of more huge fights and huge paydays.

Ruiz is eyeing a trilogy with Joshua, who exacted revenge six months later but has endured his own chaotic journey between darkness and light in recent years. They crossed paths in Saudi Arabia last year, when Joshua beat Otto Wallin.

‘He came over to where me and my girlfriend were sitting and told me: “Hey, I’m ready for you. I’m better. I’m back”,’ explains Ruiz. The 34-year-old was baffled at first.

‘What the heck,’ he thought. ‘He’s still thinking of me, he wants to fight again. I’m sure he found himself again. He got his motivation back. And that’s exactly what I have to do.’

It is an illustration of boxing’s warped meritocracy that such fights and such riches remain within reach. No matter that Ruiz was ridiculed after surrendering his belts almost immediately. No matter that Saturday’s fight with Miller is his first in nearly two years – and only his third outing since losing to Joshua in December 2019.

‘Everybody goes through rollercoasters in their lives,’ Ruiz says. ‘Unfortunately, I had my ups, I had to learn, and I had to go towards my downs. Ever since I started praying, I started getting closer to God. And he’s helped me so much.’

What has he found out? ‘Somebody has to go through their lows to understand everything that happened.’ And to realize their purpose.

‘I’m happy for all the ups and downs that I had to go through. Because without that, nobody can learn about themselves. Things had to go that way. It’s like I was born again.’ Now Ruiz feels 34 going on 31.

We have been down this road before, of course. It was back in April 2021, nearly two years on from that crowning night, that Ruiz spoke to Mail Sport with brutally honesty about his spiral – from all the parades and the parties to the emptiness, the regret and the days when he wished he could crawl under his bed and eat Cheerio’s.

Anthony joshua

DON’T MISS : Nobody hit me harder: I fought Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk and…

‘I shut myself like a turtle’, he admitted at the time. He smoked and drank and battled depression and considered calling it quits. But then ‘everything changed’. He had a new trainer and – crucially – a different ‘mentality, spirit, everything.’

He had cut out the Snickers and the sweets and the cakes. He had shed some weight and trimmed his entourage. He beat Chris Arreola on his long-awaited return, having discovered that fulfilment arrives not through big houses or flash cars but through finding God.

This time, peace has come through loss. Surgery rid Ruiz of pain in his shoulder. A break-up freed him of mental turmoil.

‘I feel like all the bad vibes that I had before are all flushed down the toilet,’ Ruiz says. ‘I feel like a brand new person. Now I’m going into a fight on August 3rd without any problems, without any drama.’

Earlier this year, it was reported that Ruiz’s ex-partner was granted a restraining order against the heavyweight amid allegations of ‘sexual, physical and psychological abuse’.

Ruiz was accused of terrorizing Julia Lemus and even pointing a AK-47 at her face. He denied the allegations and paints a rather different picture of the relationship.

‘It wasn’t good for my mental health or for my career.’ Now? ‘It’s like a big mountain fell out of my back.’

The heavyweight continues: ‘We all have little mental breakdowns – especially when it’ your partner… I had to break up and find myself again. God put me here for a mission, and I’m here to continue it.’

The end goal? Reclaim those belts. ‘To prove – not just to my fans, but to me – that I’m capable of becoming a two-time heavyweight champion of the world,’ he says.

‘To show people that this chubby kid could do all these things – through God, he could beat all these giants… I’m back on the highway I was supposed to be on. He had to put me down, for me to learn and for me to get stronger.’

Ruiz is eyeing a title shot in 2025 but first he come through Miller. They are friends and he has a lot to thank Big Baby for. Those failed tests changed both fighters’ lives and altered the landscape of heavyweight boxing.

Now they meet in Los Angeles on a card topped by pound-for-pound great Terence Crawford. Ruiz and Miller were catapulted in opposite directions during those few weeks in 2019. Really, their paths should never have crossed. But this is boxing and this is where Ruiz finds himself in 2024.

‘I know I could have found somebody else – somebody easier – for my tune-up fight. But I think he is perfect,’ Ruiz says.

‘It’s like I’m starting all over again… I just have to climb up the ladder again, man. I have to stay motivated, ready and prepared.

‘If I win August 3rd, there’s no way I don’t want to fight again in two years. I don’t want to live that again. Now that I’ve taken all the negative stuff away from my life, I’m ready to hit it hard.’

“I Fear For Him” Anthony Joshua Makes ‘Worrying’ Mike Tyson-Jake Paul Prediction: “I Fear For Him”

Mike Tyson ‘s fight with Jake Paul is fast approaching and the predictions continue to fly in from all quarters.

There are now three months to go until this rather unlikely showdown in Texas in November. The fight was first scheduled for July but Tyson was forced to postpone the bout after suffering an ulcer flare-up.

Since then he has been in recovery and his opponent, the almost 30 years younger Paul, was determined to fight on their original date.

He beat former UFC fighter and bare-knuckle champion Mike Perry by fifth round stoppage to take his record to 11-1.

Tyson might have once upon a time been the youngest ever heavyweight but has not fought professionally since 2005 when he ended his storied career with a pair of losses, though he did lace up the gloves once in 2022 for an exhibition with Roy Jones Jr that ended in a pre-arranged draw.

Fellow former heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, has now been asked about the contest by Jonathan Ross and deemed it good for the sport.

“I personally think it’s really good. I think the boxing fanatics don’t like it because it’s like why are they disrespecting our sport, there’s an Olympic system you go through and once you qualify there you go through the professional ranks, whereas someone with a profile can come out of nowhere and fight the best guys.

“Let’s say we divided this crowd in half and half are hardcore boxing fans and half are people that love a certain person like a YouTuber, but that person brings all these people into boxing with benefits everyone. It’s a tough game so everyone viewing helps so I think it’s really good for exposure.”

Anthony joshua

He then predicted the fight and sided with the younger man, fearing Tyson’s age might catch up to him and praying the 58-year-old comes out healthy.

“The only thing I’m worried about is father time and father time has never been beat.

Tyson is older now, I pray that he comes out healthy.

I think Jake Paul [will in] because of the youth, that’s the only thing, because of the youth.”

Joshua has plenty on his own plate as right now he is in camp for his word title showdown with Daniel Dubois in September at Wembley. Victory would see him become a three-time world champion, while a loss would mean a long road back.
