“I Will Not Hide It” Usyk Rates The Power Of Anthony Joshua And Tyson Fury After Beating Both

Oleksandr Usyk has beaten five Brits in the last six years, the most notable being Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

After knocking out Tony Bellew in his last cruiserweight fight, the Ukrainian moved up to heavyweight in the hope of becoming undisputed in a second division

He beat Derek Chisora before taking the unified titles from Joshua via unanimous decision and keeping hold of them in the rematch with a split decision.

A stoppage of Daniel Dubois served as his second defence before he scored another split decision win against Fury in their long-awaited undisputed clash.

Speaking at a press conference in his home country following the Joshua bout, Usyk said that one of Joshua’s punches ‘sent him to Elon Musk’ for a while before his fighting focus was re-established.

“There were quite tangible blows. You can see it on my face too. There was a cut when we hit our heads. Then a light blow from his jab broke an eyebrow, which was flooding my right eye with blood.

“I will not hide that there were very sensitive blows to the chin, to the stomach, which sent me to Elon Musk for a while, but I quickly returned. In battle, adrenaline and emotions are so overwhelming that you feel it after the battle – pain, dizziness and everything else. In the ring, you are very focused on your actions.”

Joshua would typically be recognised as the bigger puncher when discussed with Fury, but speaking to the 3 Knockdown Rule podcast Usyk held ‘The Gypsy King’s power in high regard, too – particularly one uppercut.

” I got uppercut you know, it’s like very pain. Hard pain. I feel maybe 10 seconds I say ‘hey, God, thank you, help me.’ I say to myself ‘hey Alex, move, move. If you stop, he’ll kill you.’”

His manager Egis Klimas then added what Usyk said to him about the uppercut after the fight.

oleksandr usyk

“It was such a big pain I can explain only one thing, it felt like my tooth came out.”

What the Ukrainian felt was an old dental implant being impacted rather than the broken jaw Fury had claimed to have inflicted. After taking the best shots from Joshua, Dubois and Fury, Usyk still maintains that it was Chisora who hit him hardest

“Dubois Shook Me To My Core When He Hit Me” Anthony Joshua Sent Serious Warning By Top Heavyweight

An all-action, all-British world heavyweight title fight is now just around the corner.

In September, two of the form men in the division will come together to battle it out for the IBF world title at Wembley Stadium.

In one corner is the experienced former two-time champion Anthony Joshua who has knocked out his last three opponents. In the other corner is the younger man Daniel Dubois. He is the current belt holder and is coming off the back of two of the best wins of his career, both of which were stoppages over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic.

Speaking to Seconds Out, rising heavyweight star Johnny Fisher was asked what will happen when Joshua and Dubois meet and picked the power of ‘AJ’, but warned him that Dubois has the power to ‘shake you to your absolute core;.

“Definitely Anthony Joshua, but not the margin that people would suspect. I reckon it’s like a 55/60-45/40 split in favour of Anthony Joshua. Dubois can seriously whack. I’ve sparred him loads. His right hands can shake you to your absolute core. I remember I got hit by one it was like an electric shock going to your body. Then again I’ve not spared Anthony Joshua and I know how hard he can hit from who he’s knocked out and what he has done to people.”

Fisher, who fights next against Andriy Rudenko on September 28, then spoke of Dubois’ best assets and the confidence he will have from his recent victories.

“The jab of Dubois as well is like a right hand. I know I ain’t spared Joshua but Dubois is no joke going off great wins like Miller and Hrgovic. Hrgovic has been the bogey man for the last two, three years so it’s not going to be an easy night for Joshua but the amount of right hands Hrgovic hit Dubois with, if Joshua lands these it’s going to be night-night.”

Whoever comes out on top will be hoping to get a shot at the undisputed title against whoever wins the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury in December.

After Sharing The Ring With Both Dmitry Bivol Delivers Honest Verdict On Canelo vs Benavidez

Dmitry Bivol is soon to get a shot at becoming the undisputed light heavyweight champion. If he wins, David Benavidez is first in line to face him.

In his way is fearsome puncher Artur Beterbiev, the IBF, WBO and WBC champion who has a 100% knockout record having stopped all 20 of his opponents to date. He had to postpone the pair’s first fight date in June due to dental surgery and they are now set to meet on October 12 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

In the meantime, Benavidez has moved up from super middleweight to become WBC interim light-heavyweight champion. Despite the new division and the future shot against the Bivol-Beterbiev winner, he still wants unified super middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez after years of chasing. It is, fans agree, one of the best match-ups in the sport.

Canelo is no stranger to the move up to 175 himself, having beaten Sergey Kovalev but fallen short against Bivol.

Bivol – who has shared tough sparring sessions with Benavidez in the past – was asked by FightHype what might happen should Canelo finally agree to the fight – and he says it’s a pure 50/50 contest.

“That’s an interesting fight.

I think 50-50 fight. Benavidez is not an easy fighter at all you know and he could make a lot of problems for Canelo.”

With Benavidez moving up to light-heavyweight, Bivol is open to a clash against the ‘Mexican Monster’, but said his main focus is getting all the belts against Beterbiev.

“It could be a great fight, why not, but my goal is to fight for belts.”

Canelo’s next fight is in September when he defends against Edgar Berlanga. Should he win, Benavidez may well then get his shot at the Mexican, though many think ‘Canelo’ is running scared.

It is a Scam” Turki Alalshikh Responds To Rumours That Terence Crawford Will Face 42-Year-Old Former Champion

Terence Crawford is in the market for a dance partner after winning a world title in a fourth division earlier this month.

The 36-year-old from Omaha beat Israil Madrimov over the distance to snatch the WBA 154lbs belt in Los Angeles, proving he still has what it takes to move up weight after starting his career at 135.

His ultimate goal is now to face Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez in the 168 ranks, but the Mexican has turned down the opportunity to discuss that before his September 14 date with Edgar Berlanga.

Whether or not Alvarez takes the fight remains to be seen, having previously dismissed it but said he will sign if the price is right. Meanwhile, Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh has been looking at options for Crawford. He believes that an offer to face undefeated super-welterweight Vergil Ortiz will be rejected, as well as any other offer than doesn’t start with Canelo’s name.

Rumours recently swirled on social media that a former opponent of the unified super-middleweight champion was now in the running – Gennady Golovkin.

Kazakhstan’s Golovkin has been out of the ring since losing his trilogy battle with Canelo in September of 2022. Previously he was a two-time unified middleweight champion and heralded as one of the toughest men in the sport.

Whilst he hasn’t officially retired and even said he has his eye on any worthwhile opportunities, at 42-years-old many fans believe they won’t see him in a ring again.

He will not be getting an offer from Alalshikh for the Crawford bout, that’s for sure – the Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority took to social media to brand the rumours false.

Crawford is enjoying his spoils for the time-being, and fans perhaps won’t know what his next move is until after Canelo-Berlanga next month.

“Hands Down” Wladimir Klitschko Had No Doubt Who Would Win Fury-Joshua After Facing Both: “Hands Down”

Anthony Joshua versus Tyson Fury is still one of the biggest fights that can be made in world boxing.

Both British heavyweights have long been huge draws, and both are former world champions with a chance at redemption later in the year.

First comes Joshua’s sure-to-be explosive match-up with Daniel Dubois, the current IBF belt holder and a man in form having stopped his last two opponents, Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic.

After their contest in September, all eyes will be on the rematch between Fury and Oleksandr Usyk in which ‘The Gypsy King’ attempts to avenge his one and only loss in the ring. If he does come out on top, he will win three of the four major world titles from the Ukrainian. Should Joshua do the same, all roads will lead to a huge undisputed fight sometime in 2025.

One man who has fought both is former long-reining champion Wladimir Klitschko. He lost to Fury on points in 2015 in a big upset, then got stopped in the later rounds against Joshua in 2016 in a thrilling back and forth encounter.

When asked after his defeat to ‘AJ’ who would win should the two come together, he went with Joshua, ‘hands down’.

“Hands down Joshua.

He is getting to be the complete fighter. Technically, size-wise, weight-wise, power-wise. And he is a good learner.

The other guy [Fury], like a fart in the wind it is there and it is gone. In the history of boxing there are a lot of examples of this kind of guy. They can be successful for a time but are not disciplined enough to continue to be successful. I wish Tyson well but I think there is a lack of discipline there, and discipline is more important than motivation.

Anthony joshua

Drawing from my experience I would say it is going to be very difficult for Tyson because there’s that lack of discipline.

Of course lots has changed since that prediction. Joshua has gone on to lose three times, once to Andy Ruiz Jr and twice to Usyk. Fury on the other hand regained his heavyweight title status after an epic trilogy against Deontay Wilder but like ‘AJ’ also lost out to Klitschko’s fellow countryman.

Will Be Easier To Beat, Oleksandr Usyk Has No Doubt Whether Tyson Fury Will Be Easier Or Harder To Beat In Rematch

Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury are set to renew their rivalry in Saudi Arabia in December of this year.

These two modern heavyweight greats put on a superb fight back in May to contest the first undisputed title in almost 25 years.

It was the former Olympic gold medalist and undisputed cruiserweight champion Usyk who came out on top after a close fight that was won off the back of one big ninth round for the Ukrainian.

Despite being the naturally smaller man – which is something he was teased for by Fury for many years – Usyk managed to land a power shot that had Fury momentarily in trouble and taking a 10 count.

That led to some rather confused corner work in Fury’s team with mixed instructions being given on how to see the fight out. Despite that, Fury has said he will keep the same team for the rematch.

Ahead of that, Usyk has been speaking to Mail Sport Boxing about whether or not he thinks the second fight will be harder than the first having already admitted that the first fight with Fury was the hardest of his career.

“No, it won’t be easier.

RELATED :“I Fear For Him” Anthony Joshua Makes ‘Worrying’ Mike Tyson-…

I think it will be even more difficult. Look, I always set myself up for a hard night, never an easy one. I’m expecting the cosmos that will crush me so only my eyes will see what happening. I get pumped for such things. I don’t think that it will be easier for me, but I don’t need it to be easier. Diamonds cannot be found in easy, because they are not there. You cannot succeed without hard work, everything that is given easily does not grow.”

Anthony joshua

Fury too has promised he will be better than the first time around which makes this rematch one of the most intriguing fights of the year.

‘He’s strong but we were close’ – Daniel Dubois’ sparring partner shares surprising prediction for Anthony Joshua fight

Daniel Dubois’ sparring partner has backed against him in his fight with Anthony Joshua.

Dubois was crowned IBF heavyweight world champion after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt, and he will make a first defence of it against Joshua on September 21 at Wembley Stadium.

Anthony Joshua is considered the marginal favourite given his experience and recent form under the stewardship of new coach Ben Davison.

And Guido Vianello, who has sparred Dubois in the past, surprisingly believes Joshua will win having shared some ‘close’ rounds with the 26-year-old.

He told Boxing Social: “I sparred with Daniel in the training camp before my Efe Ajagba fight [back in April], he is a very strong and dangerous boxer, but we were very close in every session.

“So, I was very happy to spar with him, he is very dangerous. But Joshua is back and he is back in the best shape [of his career] I think.

“I know Francis Ngannou too and we are good friends, Ngannou is very dangerous in the ring. We could see this when he fought Tyson Fury, we saw a tough Francis Ngannou.

“Then, with Joshua, everything was better for him [Joshua]. He was fought 12 rounds many times, Joshua knows what to do in the ring and versus Francis, Joshua was perfect.

“I saw Joshua then and I said that he looks very different, he looks much better than in the past. With Dubois it is a very close fight and I think that Joshua, with his experience, maybe he can win.”

Dubois has made a remarkable charge to the title given he was handed a brutal beating by Joe Joyce in his first career defeat in 2020.

Questions were raised as to whether he will be able to withstand Joshua’s power, after he was hit regularly by the Croatian in a real barnstormer.

But ‘DDD’ insists he will pose significant problems to the leading heavyweight given his power.

He said:  “I won’t take them shots. Hrgovic is completely different to AJ, the way that he throws his shots is smooth, he is light and he is quick, he doesn’t load up or anything.

“It took me a while to get the hang of it but I found a way to deal with it.

“If you look at the fight properly, I was slipping, just subtly sometimes, doing what I had to do to win.

“That is what I am going to have to do again, break Joshua up, break down what is in front of me and get the victory by any means necessary.

Anthony joshua

“Could he [Joshua] take them shots that Hrgovic was throwing? Everyone has got an opinion. Let them get on with it.

“Now it is time to do the work and see what they [the naysayers] say after this one. I will win by any means necessary, but a stoppage is definitely what I am after.

“Good stoppage and a statement victory, that’s what I’m all about.”

The winner of the event sees a potential undisputed showdown with the victor in Oleksandr Usyk’s rematch with Tyson Fury which is set to take place on December 21.

She asked, Who was the best Fight? Claressa Shields’ Undercard in Detroit: Who was the best Fight

In the build-up to Claressa Shields’ WBC heavyweight title fight with Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse, several undercard bouts took place on DAZN.
Often times you hear about a preliminary match having the potential to steal the show or come close.
Sitting in the hotel earlier in the evening, two coaches politely disputed which undercard bout would do just that.
A local trainer and Christianne Fahey’s trainer both acknowledged great fights in the making between Fahey and Perkins as well as Russ and Shackleford. Two six round affairs.
The top half of the card was capitalized with the co-main event between Massachusetts junior welterweight Michel Rivera (26-1, 14 KOs) and Argentine Hugo Alberto Roldan (22-3-1, 7 KOs) in a 10-rounder.
Rivera won via split decision in a fight with nearly every round playing out similarly.
With “Ali” across the front of his trunks, Rivera boxed well and was the more polished of the two.
The southpaw Roldan was relentless in his efforts to hang tough over the duration.
Two judges rightfully scored the fight 98-91 and 99-90 for Rivera, while the third shockingly saw it 95-94 in favor of Roldan.
Few would argue that Rivera lost more than two rounds.  Roldan would touch the canvas late in the fight but made it to the final bell despite chants of “Ali” coming from the Detroit crowd.
Junior welterweight Julian Smith (9-2, 5 KOs) of Chicago, edged out favorite Shohjahon Ergashev (24-2, 21 KOs) of Detroit by way of Uzbekistan by a 10-round split split decision.
This fight was certainly the more competitive of the two split decisions finishes.
Smith, legally deaf, pressured the slick southpaw over the duration of the fight.  Ergashev, rated #13 by the WBC, picked his shots and maneuvered swiftly around the ring.
This was a true contrast of styles that can make judging more difficult at times.

Smith dropped Ergashev slightly after the bell sounded in the second.  Referee Benjamin Rodriguez clarified that the bell had already sounded.
Smith scored another knockdown in the fifth, while continuing to pressure and smother the fading Ergashev.
Scores of 95-94 x 2 for Smith and 95-94 were read as few argued Smith getting his hand raised.  It was a well earned victory in a competitive fight.
Pontiac, MI super featherweight Cameron Pankey (10-1, 4 KOs) shut out North Carolina’s Shaileik Paisley (4-5, 3 KOs) in a six rounder.
Pankey had to work for this one as Paisley hung in tough.
In a junior middleweight battle for Detroit, Josiah Shackleford (4-2, 2 KOs) defeated Gordie Russ II (6-2, 6 KOs) by unanimous decision over 6 rounds of thrilling action.
Shackleford started strong in the first and finished strong in the 5th and 6th, with some back and forth rounds in between.  Every round was competitive and as exciting as projected. Respect to both for putting it on the line in this thriller.
Scores of 59-55 across the board did not indicate the competitiveness of the match.

Dearborn Heights, MI junior middleweight Husam Al Mashhadi (10-1, 9 KOs) finished off Bruno Leonardo Romay (22-14, 19 KOs) in a battle of southpaws.
The explosive southpaw wasted no time stepping on the gas early and often, looking to impress the growing attendance.
Mashhadi scored multiple knockdowns with no answer in return aside from the rightful referee stoppage.
Pomona, CA junior welterweight Ernesto Mercado (16-0, 15 KOs) battered Argentine Hector Edgardo Sarmiento (21-3, 14 KOs) over three rounds of action of a scheduled ten rounder.
Mercado, a highly decorated amateur, had the height and youth on his side as he continued to climb the rankings.
Flint, Michigan native Jaquan McElroy (1-0) made his professional debut, defeating Travis Floyd (1-10-2) of Atlanta, Georgia over four rounds.
A veteran of 120-plus amateur fights and three national championships, the 154-lb McElroy recently inked a deal with Shields’ T-Rex Promotions.
Scores were 40-36 and 39-37 x 2
Samantha Worthington (9-0, 7 KOs) of Lexington, Kentucky dominated Hungarian vet Edina Kiss (16-21, 9 KOs) forcing a corner stoppage after the second round.

Another recent signee of Shields’ T-Rex Promotions, Worthington came out firing early on, leaving no room for Kiss to gather herself.

To start off the night, two female combatants looking to impress early arrivals and ringside observers did just that over six rounds of exciting action.
Houston-based, Brooklyn native Danielle Perkins (5-0, 2 KOs) slugged her way to a well earned unanimous decision victory over the durable and spirited Christianne Fahey (4-2, 3 KOs) of Scotland.
Rated #1 by the WBC at 175 lbs, Perkins was the mandatory to face Lepage-Joanisse prior to the announcement of Shields making the jump to heavyweight.
Fahey was off to a good start in the opening round shooting lead right hands to the head and torso of her southpaw opponent, seemingly edging out the round.
The next couple of rounds Perkins stepped on the gas and landed a series of heavy blows drawing blood from the nose and mouth of Fahey. She complimented that with good body work when the 6 ft tall UK native was against the ropes.
Fahey, now showing swelling under both eyes, caught a second wind in the fourth round and made a good fight of it over the last three rounds.
In the end, she was simply outgunned by a bigger and stronger fighter and will likely see much better days at a lighter weight moving forward.
Judges scores were 60-54 and 59-55 x 2.
DAZN’s broadcast team could have seen another round going in the direction of Fahey as a 58-56 verdict.
The two nearly locked horns at Friday’s weigh-ins, leaving no doubt that we would be in for a good fight.
Both combatants reciprocated with a smile and mutual respect as the final bell sounded, knowing they gave each other their best effort.
Perkins, a former St John’s basketball player and decorated amateur boxer, called for the Shields fight shortly after.
The two coaches debating on which fight would steal the undercard turned out to be the best two undercard fights.
Dmitry Salita Promotions’ Matchmakers Steve Clemente and Lina Kurylyuk filled the card well.
People certainly underrate undercards a lot of times. If you bought a ticket, it’s worth showing up when the lights turn on.

“It’s His Time” Shakur Stevenson Delivers ‘Truthful’ Verdict On Terence Crawford vs Jaron Ennis: “It’s His Time”

Shakur Stevenson has discussed a potential fight between two fighters he’s close with – Terence Crawford and Jaron Ennis.

Crawford finished his business at welterweight when he defeated his main rival Errol Spence Jr in a career-defining performance which saw him become undisputed champion in a second weight class.

The two men had dominated the 147 division and finally agreed terms last year to settle who was the top dog. Despite many billing the clash as a 50/50 contest before the first bell, ‘Bud’ dominated from the get go, dropping his opponent three times before getting the stoppage in the ninth.

When the pair decided to move up in weight a void was created at welterweight which Ennis was quick to fill. ‘Boots’ is now signed to Matchroom and his profile in the sport is increasing all the time.

The Philadelphia native carries power in both hands, boasts an incredible record of 29 knockouts from his 32 victories and is yet to taste defeat. His last outing saw him stop former Crawford foe David Avanesyan in the fifth – one round quicker than his rival.

With Crawford now looking for his next opponent, fans and pundits have been calling for him to face Ennis next, even if it means the Philly native needs to move up in weight.

Speaking to DAZN Boxing, three-weight world champion Stevenson has made his feelings clear about the potential matchup – he doesn’t want to see it.

Terence crawford

“I’ve got nothing but love for ‘Bud’ and I’ve got nothing but love for ‘Boots’, I’m closer with Bud. It’s weird as I came up in the amateurs with ‘Boots’ and I’ve been in and around ‘Boots’ and I got mad love for him. Truthfully speaking I don’t want them to fight, I don’t want to be right there watching them fight.

I feel like it’s two different era’s. Yeah, they’re here at the same time but it’s two different eras. Bud is here and he did his career and going to do everything he’s supposed to do and now it’s ‘Boots’ time coming behind him. They remind me of each other with their mentality, the way they switch, the way they think.”

Crawford has claimed Ennis brings little commercial value to the table and has instead been chasing a fight against Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez, although that looks off the table for now

He hits harder” Daniel Dubois Never Relent Because I spent years sparring Anthony Joshua, but Daniel Dubois hits harder

The debate over who hits harder out of Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois rages on.

Ever since it was announced that the heavyweight titans would be squaring off this September, boxing forums have been packed to the brim with theories about which of the Brits carries more concussive power.

Heavyweight contender Frazer Clarke, a former sparring partner of both men, joined talkSPORT’s talkBOXING podcast this week and weighed in on the discussion.

Clarke sparred Joshua for several years during his time with Team GB Boxing in Sheffield when both men were under the tutelage of Robert McCracken.

Meanwhile, he has also duked it out with Dubois, who spent a brief stint with the podium squad before turning over as a professional.

Asked if Dubois hits harder, Clarke said: “On a single shot possibly but I’d say Anthony puts them together better with his boxing style.”

The debate will be settled once and for all when Joshua and Dubois exchange leather on September 21 at Wembley Stadium.

Both men are set to square off for the IBF heavyweight title after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the red and gold strap in order to pursue a second fight with Tyson Fury on December 21.

As a result, Dubois was upgraded from ‘interim’ to full world champion and will make his first defence of the belt against AJ.

Several members of the boxing fraternity insisted Joshua had lost the fire in his belly after getting knocked out by Andy Ruiz in 2019, and then suffering consecutive losses to Usyk in 2021 and 2022.

But devastating stoppage victories over Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou in his most recent outings has led many to believe the Brit still has his ruthless streak intact, although Simon Jordan insists that Dubois’ power could give Joshua ‘PTSD’.

“I think it’s a fascinating fight,” said the talkSPORT pundit last month.

“I don’t go with the camp that suggests that Anthony Joshua is fully rehabilitated, because ultimately he’s fought fighters that haven’t really hit him back at this moment in time.

“Jermaine Franklin had a little go, but ultimately [Robert] Helenius got knocked out without landing a glove on him.

“Wallin was nowhere near him, and with Ngannou Joshua did what should have been done to him by Tyson Fury.

“So I think that if Daniel detonates on him he’ll get PTSD because he’ll take him back to a space where the question is that Anthony Joshua hasn’t wanted to go – deep in the trenches.

“There’s a distinct possibility that Daniel Dubois is going to drag him in there, and if he does, it’s going to be a fascinating fight, because he’s got the power.
