I’m Ready ‘I’m a king slayer and I’ve got to do that again’: Daniel Dubois ready to take out Anthony Joshua

Daniel Dubois sits down for a face to face conversation with upcoming opponent Anthony Joshua, along with their respective promoters Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn, to talk about their upcoming IBF world title fight on September 21. Check out some excerpts of what the fighters had to say with the full video at the top.

Dubois on entering the prime of his career

“I was speaking about before, I was in a dark place and I was going through some stuff but I feel like I’ve been resurrected now. I’m in the light again and I’m ready to fight. He’s been the king for a while, he’s been the king for a long time in fact, but I feel like it’s my time and I’m a king slayer and I’ve got to do that again.”

Joshua on his matchup against Dubois

“All due respect, you don’t underestimate anyone but I do know boxing very well. All this stuff that we talk about, I study Daniel and I look at some of the things that he says, his characteristics, his boxing talent, his upbringing and so on — all of it’s irrelevant. Is he ready? Everything I tell you is irrelevant. He will see, September 21st.”

Joshua on the rumor of Dubois supposedly knocking him out in a past sparring session

“Everyone tries to underestimate me, using my name for clout and boost their career. But now Daniel’s got a chance to do it by fighting me. That’s the best way that he’ll prove himself, is by fighting me.”

Towards the end of the conversation things would get tense with Joshua taking offense to Dubois saying “If he wants to swing, let’s go now,” to which Joshua would ultimately get out of his seat and engage Dubois in some intimidation tactics.

All in the mind : Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois: Victory is all in the mind for the reigning IBF heavyweight world champion

Daniel Dubois will be meditating over, and visualising how, he plans to defeat Anthony Joshua when they meet at Wembley Stadium on September 21.

The IBF world heavyweight champion takes on the former unified king of the division in a blockbuster clash, live on Sky Sports Box Office, where the winner will be line to face the victor of the Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury rematch later this year.

“When I’m in training camp, I sharpen up my mind,” Dubois told Sky Sports. “I play out the fight over and over, and just meditation and just visualising.

“I do a lot of that, and the sparring helps. The camp atmosphere all helps as well.

“This fight sells itself, based off me and AJ and what we both bring – and what I bring especially.

“We’ll see as it goes on, but I’m going to be in camp, locked in and focused. I’ll have tunnel vision about getting that victory.”

September 21 will not be the first time Dubois and Joshua have shared a ring, with the duo having sparred together when the former was part of the Great Britain amateur squad.

There have been rumours Joshua was knocked down by his future opponent in one session, although the former champion has denied that.

Dubois insists he has no memories of those sessions either and even if he did, is adamant they would be of no relevance as he has come on so much as a boxer since then.

“Those spars were seven years ago, and I can’t remember a thing about them, to be honest,” Dubois said.

“I’m not here to spar him now, I’m here to fight him, so I’m thinking about that. I haven’t brought my headguard, that spar is in the past for me.

“At the time it was a great experience, but seven years on I’m a different fighter now with different experiences in the fight game.”

Daniel Dubois

Among those experiences are those big nights on boxing’s grand stages, such as stadium fights against Kevin Lerena and Usyk in Tottenham and Wroclaw respectively, not to mention the clashes with Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic in Saudi Arabia.

He has tussled for titles too, beating Trevor Bryan in Miami to claim the WBA regular heavyweight crown two years ago and then take the IBF interim crown, later upgraded to full world champion status, in the bout with Hrgovic.

“Especially Saudi,” Dubois said, reflecting on what he has learnt from those big nights. “It was an amazing journey and I feel like it has empowered me to move on from here and get this next W.

“To go out there and the way we got the [WBA regular belt] with Don King in Miami was just a dream – it was a trip, it was good.

“It’s back in London, fighting again – I’ve missed it. It’s going to be a great night to have that feel, that energy and that buzz in the city.”

Having now compiled a 21-2 (20) record as a professional and holding a world title, Dubois has little to fear when he takes on Joshua in front of 90,000 fans at Wembley.

But he is adamant he will be able to utilise any fear there is on the night rather than let it get to him.

“You can never let that happen,” Dubois said. “Even if you are scared you’ve got to act brave!

“For a fighter, if you don’t have a bit of fear then you’re crazy. But fear is good and it’s my friend when I’m in the ring.”

Has No Doubt Who Wins ? Former Anthony Joshua Trainer Robert Garcia Has No Doubt Who Wins AJ vs Tyson Fury

Coach Robert Garcia has looked forward to an all-British banger between former charge Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury

Garcia is a decorated coach who has worked with many world champions including Mikey Garcia, Nonito Donaire, Brandon Ríos and Marcos Maidana. He currently corners pound-for-pound star Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez.

Because of his many years of experience with talented fighters, he was brought in by Joshua after the Brit lost his first fight with Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and was looking to correct mistakes and exact revenge in the rematch in 2022.

It didn’t work out like that and Joshua again lost on points over 12 rounds, despite a more competitive showing. He separated from Garcia and linked up with Derrick James.

After a couple of fights with James, Joshua hooked up with former Fury coach Ben Davison, who oversaw his last stoppage wins over Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou and is now guiding him through camp ahead of his IBF world title shot with Daniel Dubois on September 21.

Should Joshua come through that, and if Fury wins his rematch with Usyk having lost their first fight for undisputed in May, the two British big men could come together in the ring next year.

Speaking to ESNEWS, Garcia was asked how he thinks his former fighter would fare against Fury should it happen, predicting a big finish.

“I think Joshua knocks him out.”

Although both winning would potentially set up an undisputed bout, Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh has recently stated that he wants to make AJ-Fury regardless of ‘The Gypsy King’s result against Usyk in the rematch

plenty’ more fights for AJ before retirement Anthony Joshua’s boxing future takes major U-turn as Eddie Hearn says he now sees ‘plenty’ more fights for AJ before retirement

Eddie Hearn has changed his stance on Anthony Joshua’s future.

The Matchroom Boxing chief insisted earlier this year that AJ doesn’t have long left in the sport.

However, Hearn has made a major U-turn as Joshua gears up to face Daniel Dubois for the IBF heavyweight title on September 21.

Anthony Joshua himself gave an interview earlier this year in which he claimed he was entering his final couple of years in boxing – a position, Hearn had backed.

However, when asked how many fights the 34-year-old has left, Hearn told talkSPORT.com: “At the moment, plenty.

“Everything changes after every fight, but I think I’ve never seen him enjoy boxing so much.

“The preparation, the team. It’s simple but effective. I think he’s really found his rhythm with Ben [Davison] and the camp there.

“And I think if you look back after the Oleksandr Usyk fights you might have said, ‘How many more fights? Three? Five?’

“Well we’ve had four since then and now we’re saying five [more] still.
It’s always fight by fight.”

Providing Joshua comes out of his clash with Dubois unscathed, then HE Turki Alalshikh is targeting the long-awaited all-British showdown with Tyson Fury.

Joshua opens up as a 1/4 favourite to defeat ‘Triple D’ and become a three-time heavyweight champion.

“This is a very dangerous fight, but it’s a great fight,” he added.

“And as it gets closer I think people are starting to realise.

“People in boxing know what a great fight it is, but I think the general consensus is, ‘Oh, AJ’s a massive favourite.’

“I think he is a favourite, but if you look at people’s assessment within boxing.

“Obviously, they’re much more skewed towards it being a 50/50 than maybe the man on the street who doesn’t know a great deal about Dubois and the run that he’s on.

“I think they’re both in absolutely prime form but I do make Anthony the favourite in the fight.”

He recalled: “I never really had my eye on him, but I had Ambrose Mendy come onto me and say, ‘There’s this kid at GB.’

Devin Haney

“I spoke to the people at GB and they said he’s a really good young heavyweight.

“They phoned me up and said, ‘This is the deal that’s on offer from Queensberry, will you match it?’

“I said no because I’d hardly ever heard of him and it was a lot of money.

“That was when I first found out really and discussed Dubois at length.

“When I started out he looked really good and, I don’t kick myself, but I was like, ‘Oh, maybe he was worth the money.’

“Then obviously he got beat by Joe Joyce and it was like, ‘Wow, all that investment.’ But the bounce back has been really impressive.

‘He can’t hold it for a chance’ – Fans Predicts only one winner as Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois’ physiques compared ahead of heavyweight clash

Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois look in sensational shape ahead of their heavyweight showdown.

Daniel Dubois and Joshua are set to do battle in a titanic tussle for the former’s IBF heavyweight title in a record-breaking event at Wembley Stadium on September 21.

The two powerful heavyweights have been known for being in elite shape for their fights, and it is no different as their domestic clash approaches.

Joshua was the first to post his huge physique, as he showed off huge arms and a ripped six-pack in a post on social media.

It was captioned: “Don’t worry about being popular. Worry about being the best in class.”

Dubois recently responded with his own topless photo showing off his own huge and ripped physique during a recent gym workout.

Fans were stunned with how the pair looked physically, with one writing: “They both look huge.”

Another was quick to back Joshua, writing: “That Dubois does not stand a chance. Joshua looks impressive.”

One wrote: “RIP Daniel Dubois.”

Other fans were not so sure, with one adding: “Starting to lean towards Dubois late mid-round stoppage.”

“I Can’t Go Against Him” Otto Wallin Predicts Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua After Facing Both

Otto Wallin has fought and lost to both Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

The Swedish southpaw took Fury the distance, inflicting a cut so bad that there couldn’t have been many complaints if the referee had stopped it early. The Brit battled through bloodily, though, and took a unanimous decision on the scorecards. Post-fight he would split with trainer Ben Davison in favour of SugarHill Steward, who he has been with since.

In an interesting turn of events, Davison was the man Joshua chose for his corner earlier this year, their first together fight being Wallin. ‘AJ’ demolished him, landing significant blows to body and head before the Swede, who suffered a fractured nose, was retired by his corner after the fifth.

Speaking to Sun Sport after both bouts, Wallin confirmed that the tougher fight was against Joshua but still made Fury the favourite in an all-British heavyweight clash.

“I feel like Joshua is a very good fighter, very good power, very good counter puncher. I feel like he definitely has a shot with Fury. And you just never know what Tyson Fury shows up. I still have a hard time going against Tyson in that fight.

But, the fights if you compare it my fight against Joshua was a lot tougher than the one I had against Fury. That doesn’t mean everything but I give Joshua more of a chance than I did before. But I still would probably pick Fury as the favourite.”

Anthony joshua

There’s a chance the fight still happens after years of stumbling blocks and failed talks. Fury, who lost out on the chance at becoming undisputed when he was beaten by Oleksandr Usyk in May, will rematch the Ukrainian in December. Meanwhile, Joshua faces newly-elevated world champion Daniel Dubois on September 21.

Should they both win, the clash will be targeted for the first half of 2025

Claressa Shields Backs Lil Yachty’s $400,000 Attack on “Ungrateful” Best Friend

A lot has gone down in the past few days, and now it seems rapper and singer Lil Yachty has had enough of his friend and podcast co-host MitchGoneMad. Yachty felt betrayed after a viral clip surfaced where he questioned Mitch’s success, asking where he would be without the backing of someone famous like him. Interestingly, heavyweight champion Claressa Shields has publicly sided with Yachty, agreeing with his perspective. But why?

In case you were living under a rock for the past week, here’s what went down. During the August 21st episode of ‘A Safe Place Podcast’ featuring Key Glock, the trio spoke about what advice they would give to Glock if he had to start over. While Mitch suggested he would think things through, Lil Yachty reminded Mitch where he would have ended up if it weren’t for him and his popularity.

[If] I was never in your life, what would you have been doing?” asked the rapper. This part of the clip was later shared on social media with people claiming Yachty publically disrespected his friend, but Lil Yachty seems to have taken offense to his friend and co-host Mitch, not defending him after the clip went viral. To put things into perspective, the podcast was started in June 2023 and has since seen a quick rise to fame, with guest appearances from Saweetie, Kai Cenat, J. Cole, ScHoolboy Q, and Veeze.

Regardless, Yachty hopped on an Instagram Live Session on August 22nd to highlight that the podcast was started just to shine a light on Mitch’s talent. “I said, ‘Alright, you know what? I’ma give you a platform. I’ma find someone to sponsor us. ‘We gon’ make a podcast, and I’ma show people how funny you are, I’ma show people how crazy you are, I’ma show you how cool you are.’ I [didn’t want to do a] motherf**king podcast, n**ga. I’m a motherf**king rapper,” Yachty said dismally.

He further added, “I put $400,000 in Mitch’s pocket, and y’all [are] sitting here talking about, ‘He’s disrespecting his friend’.” When Yachty’s rant on Instagram started gaining traction, Claressa Shields reacted to it stating, “A lot of celebs deal with s**t like this on the daily, ungrateful mfs!” However, things didn’t end there! After Yachty’s fiery response, Mitch seems to have responded to the drama.

Despite Lil Yachty rant, Mitch claims the next episode will be epic

The next day on August 23rd, Mitch finally took X, writing, “[I am] [skull emoji] the next podcast will be epic ion even think we need a guest this time lol.. see ya around.” In a later post on the same day, Mitch claimed he has never been anybody’s “lil bro,” asking people to take a look at his background because he “[I] had stats before [I] met bro and got even more now.”

In yet another post, Mitch claimed everyone who knows him knows that he has put in the work to get to where he is today. However, he finally acknowledged the clip that had originally started going around the internet of Yachty disrespecting him, writing, “He wasn’t trying to take [my hard work away] from me[,] we just debating on camera[,] it got taken out of context..”

It’s unclear whether Lil Yachty and MitchGoneMad were able to completely settle their differences. However, Mitch’s response seems to be in the same direction. What did you think about this entire exchange? Who do you think was at fault?

“He’s in no rush to get in the ring.” Hearn discussed the future plans of Devin Haney

The head of Matchroom’s promotional company, Eddie Hearn, commented on the future plans of former two-division world champion Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs).

“At the moment, it’s likely that everyone will be calling for a Haney rematch with Ryan. But that won’t happen until at least the middle of next year.

What will you do until then? Will you continue in the super lightweight division? Or will you move up to welterweight? It’s important to choose the right fight. Devin still wants a lot of money for a fight. He’s earned a lot, but now it’s a situation where you really have to want it.

I’m not saying you won’t see Devin Haney in the ring, but I don’t think he’s in a hurry to return,” said Hearn.

In April, Haney lost to Ryan Garcia. The fight was marred by controversy due to Ryan’s positive doping test.

Garcia has been officially suspended for a year for using banned substances before the fight against Haney.

In August, the former world champion announced his imminent return to the ring.

“He’s Crazy” Oleksandr Usyk Is Certain Who Wins Terence Crawford vs Canelo Alvarez Fight

Terence Crawford has made it clear that a fight against Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez is his main motivation left in the sport.

The American pound-for-pound star has been targeting the unified super-middleweight champion ever since his career defining victory over Errol Spence Jr last year

When he failed to lure the Mexican into the ring he stepped up to super-welterweight and won the WBA belt on his debut at the weight class against Israil Madrimov.

The man originally willing to financially back the Canelo clash, Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh, has since removed his interest in making it happen but claimed we may never see ‘Bud’ back in the ring if he can’t land the fight.

“I don’t think Crawford will fight anyone except Canelo.

This is my opinion. This is what I feel, but it is about him. We gave him an offer for [Vergil] Ortiz and I don’t know if he will take it or not. We have an agreement to do a big fight for Ortiz if Crawford doesn’t take the fight … But I don’t think [Crawford] will take it.

If the match-up can be made, then current unified heavyweight champion and fellow pound-for-pound great Oleksandr Usyk told the 3 Knockdown Rule that he would expect the naturally smaller man to get his hand raised.

“I like Terence. He’s a crazy man.

Terence win. Listen, Terence is different man. Terence works on two sides. Right and left, he’s very smart man. He feels distance and space.”

Terence crawford

“Canelo big, yeah, good boxer, but I say, Terence. Terence can box him like a big guy.”

Whilst fans wait to see what Crawford will do next, Canelo is back in the ring on September 14 against unbeaten fighter Edger Berlanga.

Mike Tyson “I Don’t Agree With That” Gives Honest Ringside Verdict On Terence Crawford-Madrimov

Terence Crawford became a four-division world champion at the first time of asking earlier this month.

The 36-year-old from Omaha relinquished his undisputed status at welterweight to enter the 154 ranks and face Israil Madrimov for the WBA World Title

Although Crawford ended an eleven fight stoppage streak, he did secure victory with a unanimous decision on the cards after showing flashes of his brilliance punctuated by the awkward and effective style of Madrimov.

Speaking on the Impaulsive podcast, former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson gave his verdict on the fight after sitting front row. Although he was glad ‘Bud’ got the victory, he says he shouldn’t have taken it in the first place.

“I just came from Crawford’s last fight. I thought that was a tough guy and I’m glad [Crawford] came back the last two rounds. The guy was very awkward and strong.

Crawford fights anybody – I don’t agree with that, cause you gotta look good in order to not mess up your next fight. You fight this guy and don’t look good the fans are gonna go ‘ah I don’t wanna see this, he’s not gonna look good against the next guy.’ You gotta constantly have fights that you know a fighter is gonna make you look good. The guy’s gotta pressure you.

[Madrimov] was running around. Crawford’s not used to this kind of movement. Awkward as a motherf***er.”

‘Iron’ Mike knows the sport well, as, post-fight, interest in Crawford making a further weight jump to face super-middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez waned. Some analysts and fighters used his performance in this latest division as a measuring stick for further moves up and advised him to stay put for the foreseeable.

Crawford likely won’t listen to the advice, and it has been reported that the Canelo fight is in fact the only one he is interested in. Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh – the man behind the biggest events in the sport right now – recently said he believes ‘Bud’ will turn down an offer to face Vergil Ortiz at super-welter.
